How to solve the problem of large thickness in WEDM

When the wire cutting machine tool cuts steel above 200 mm or copper over 70 mm, it is regarded as cutting with large thickness. However, it is not as long as the wire frame for high-speed wire cutting can cut the thickness of the material, there are certain restrictions. The greater the thickness of the processed material, the wire breaking will occur in the wire cutting machine tool. In this unstable processing condition, the material surface cut out will be damaged and some grooves will appear.

The following methods can reduce or solve the problems in cutting large thickness.

1. Enhance the discharge power and explosive force of electric spark. When the average current carrying capacity of molybdenum wire is not increased, the energy of single pulse is increased, that is, the product of voltage, current and pulse width of single pulse.

2. The selected working water base should have the functions of high dielectric coefficient, strong insulation recovery ability, strong fluidity and blowdown ability. Baoma CNC BM series working water base is recommended.

3. The material is roughened in advance, and then repeatedly forged to uniform structure, remove impurities and remove the stress of the material.

4. Under the condition of keeping the wire moving smoothly, the wire speed can be increased, and the ability of carrying water and resisting short circuit is enhanced.

5. In order to enlarge the effective gap of the middle wire feeding, the broken line feeding can be artificially controlled or the automatic advancing and retreating mode can be adopted.

The above methods can only cure the symptoms, not the root cause. To solve this problem, we can only solve it from the manufacturers in the development and manufacturing of machine tools.
